My Name is Keith Norris welcome to my portfolio.
I am fortunate enough to live in a part of the West Country sandwiched between the two National Parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor, with stunning coasts on either side.
I am married with three children and six grandchildren and a member of our local camera club. In 2013 I became a volunteer at our local museum where I landed a great job helping to look at and catalogue old photographs of the area. I finally retired in 2012 after almost 41 years serving with the ambulance service with photography, walking and fresh air being excellent relief for stress.
My journey started in the early 1970s when I first started to show an interest in photography. My first camera was a second hand 35mm Practika SLR, shooting with colour reversal film, slides. I still have boxes of slides, quite a number of them depicting family life.
During this time, I joined our local photographic club The Heathcoat & Tiverton Camera Club. I also ventured into using Black & White film, Ilford FP 4, processing it in my second-hand darkroom in my cellar. Due to both work and family commitments, I left the club, and my photography went into a decline. I rekindled my interest around 2000 when I bought my first digital camera, a Canon first compact.
I rejoined the photographic club a few years ago, and have enjoyed the camaraderie and competitions, with some moderate success. Today my primary camera is a Canon EOS 5D iii, with a selection of lenses. Recently I traded in some old accessories and purchased a Canon EOS M50 mirrorless camera with kit lens and a 55-200mm lens, which are both quite light to carry around with me.
I am purely an amateur photographer, my photographs may not be to everyone's taste, but I shoot for what I like and will have a go at most subjects as exhibited in this portfolio. Thank you for taking the time to look at my images, and please leave a comment.
The photograph on my welcome page is autumn on the River Exe, Tiverton in Devon. At the same time, the above picture is of the Grand Western Canal which runs 11 miles from Tiverton to the Devon and Somerset border.
